OUR STORY
AS BURLINGTON'S AWARD-WINNING SOUTHERN KITCHEN

At It’s All Good Southern Kitchen, we believe that real Southern food isn’t just a meal—it’s a memory. Located in the heart of Burlington, NC, we’ve spent years perfecting the art of "Made, Not Defrosted" comfort food. From our award-winning Southern Chicken Pie to our legendary Beef Tips n' Rice, every plate we serve is a tribute to the scratch-made traditions of North Carolina.

Our story didn’t begin with a deep fryer, but with a tea kettle. Long-time locals may remember our beginnings as Two For Tea, a beloved local tea room that dating back to the early 1990's. Two for Tea remained a popular Burlington lunch destination through the mid 2000s, but then began a slow decline as the brand became outdated for modern preferences and Burlington continued to grow around it.
In 2015, we took over Two for Tea with a plan to update, upgrade, and rebrand. After testing new menu items to see what resonated best with the community - including our Mama's Meat Loaf and Fire Roasted Chicken - we officially transitioned to It’s All Good Southern Kitchen in March 2017. This pivot allowed us to fully embrace the "Flavor over Fancy" philosophy that defines us today. We traded the dainty, small portion tea room aesthetic and set out to become the definitive destination for the best food in Burlington, NC.

In 2019, we recognized that our neighbors in Burlington, Graham, and Mebane needed something new: a restaurant that provided the quality of a sit-down "Sunday Dinner" with the speed of a modern lifestyle.
In November of 2019, we converted to a Fast Casual service model, removing the unnecessary wait times and the pressure of traditional tipping in typical full-service restaurants. This shift allowed us to focus entirely on the kitchen, ensuring that whether you’re visiting us for a quick lunch near Graham or picking up a family meal near Haw River, your food is served hot, fresh, and within minutes.
As the covid era began shortly after in March 2020, we were exceptionally well positioned to navigate what would ultimately be nearly two years of capacity limits. The nimble staffing needs and efficient process of our new fast casual service model allowed us to not only remain open through the entire covid era, but actually continue to post strong double-digit percentage growth while the hospitality industry otherwise faced extreme contraction.
During the covid era, we also were the second restaurant in Burlington, and first local restaurant in Burlington, to adopt "virtual ghost kitchens" as a way to continue navigating covid restrictions. Virtual kitchens are restaurant concepts that exist exclusively online as a way for restaurants to expand their reach with new menu items and target new customers. Our concept Doggystyle Premium Wieners + Burgers was our self-developed venture into providing a premium hot dog that was not available in Burlington. Within two months of launching Doggystyle, we had to renovate our kitchen to accommodate the extra volume of the concept and create a better workflow for creating Burlington's best hot dogs. While virtual kitchens fell out of style with consumers, Doggystyle continues to exist on third-party apps and we transitioned to offering the same hot dogs on our main menu - including our incredible $5.99 All-the-Way Dog Lunch combo.

The name "It's All Good" dates back to our original 2015 business plan to rebrand Two for Tea. Our inspiration came from years of visiting other "country-cooking" restaurants and realizing something was missing. We found that too many places had moved away from the true Southern experience of going to Grandma's for Sunday lunch, relying instead on "can-to-pan" shortcuts, frozen entrees, and instant, "just-add-water" gravies.
We knew our community wanted better. In a world of "freezer-to-fryer" chains, we envisioned standing apart as a 100% scratch kitchen, bringing authentic, labor-intensive Southern flavor back to Burlington. We set out with a plan to do what very few restaurants still do:
-
We peel our own potatoes daily for our signature creamed taters and smashed sweet taters.
-
We hand-shred our chicken for our famous chicken pies and hand-cut our fresh collards and yellow squash.
-
We bake our own desserts from scratch, from Grandma’s Banana Pudding to our Biscoff Cookie Butter Cheesecake.
-
We use our freezer solely for cooling down fresh batches—meaning we serve absolutely nothing frozen.
-
During our exhaustive recipe testing in 2015, we invited locals to taste our new menu. After trying the spread, one of our tasters simply sat back and remarked, "It's all good." We knew instantly that was the name to build our brand around. It isn't just a catchy phrase; it is a factual statement about everything that comes out of our kitchen.
Whether you are looking for the best food near Gibsonville or a cozy, reliable spot for a weekday lunch, we invite you to experience the difference that "Made, Not Defrosted" actually makes.

We don't just serve this community; we are a part of it. At It’s All Good, we believe in "Southern Hospitality" that extends far beyond our dining room walls. We are proud partners with local schools and non-profits, frequently hosting profit-sharing "Spirit Nights" and community fundraisers.
From supporting our local first responders to donating gift cards to fundraisers for the homeless, we are dedicated to fueling the people who make our region great. When you eat with us, you aren't just supporting a local business—you're supporting the Whitsett, Elon and Gibsonville communities we call home.
We are proud to partner with local community organizations throughout the year to help them reach their fundraising and outreach goals. From hosting profit-sharing Spirit Nights for local schools including Freedom Christian Academy to our annual sponsoring of Fostering Future's Christmas wish lists for kids and teens in Alamance County foster care, we are committed to making a tangible difference right here at home.
Because we are an independent, family-owned kitchen, the support we receive stays right here in Burlington. That allows us to consistently give back to the neighborhoods, teachers, and first responders who make our region great. Click here to book a school spirit night.
